Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States

PDF Print

The United States has a strong history of welcoming international investment because it promotes economic growth, productivity, competitiveness, and job creation. It is the policy of the U.S. to support such investment, consistent with the protection of U.S. national security.

The Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS) is an inter-agency committee authorized to review foreign investments in the U.S. that could result in foreign control of a U.S. business.

CFIUS reviews are voluntarily, but the Committee may also review transactions that are not voluntarily submitted.  There are numerous considerations that should be reviewed before engaging in a CFIUS review including whether a covered transaction could impact U.S. "national security" interests.

Our firm can assist U.S. companies seeking foreign investment or foreign persons whose acquisitions of certain U.S. businesses or operations may be subject to national security CFIUS reviews.
